Rural Employment & Enterprise
Building Sustainable Livelihoods, Empowering Communities
"We help rural communities build sustainable livelihoods and keep money circulating within the local economy."
Rural Employment & Enterprise is a flagship initiative of Ananya Foundation dedicated to creating economic self-reliance in rural Karnataka. We believe that true empowerment comes not just from education, but from the ability to earn a dignified livelihood.
Through this program, we support individuals and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to establish micro-enterprises that add value to farm products and sell them within their own villages and Panchayats. By providing training, market linkages, and ongoing support, we enable rural communities to build sustainable incomes and strengthen local economies.
The Challenge We Address
Why This Program Exists
| Challenge |
Reality |
| Limited Livelihood Options |
Rural communities often depend solely on agriculture, which is seasonal and unpredictable. |
| Lack of Value Addition |
Farm products are sold raw, missing opportunities for higher earnings. |
| Market Access Barriers |
Small producers lack access to markets and fair pricing. |
| Women's Economic Inactivity |
Many rural women have skills but no platform to earn. |
| Migration Pressure |
Lack of local employment forces youth to migrate to cities. |
"We believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to build a life of dignity, confidence, and self-reliance."
